SUMMARY:OKC MEMORIAL MARATHON TRAINING RUNS HOSTED BY LANDRUNNERS
DESCRIPTION:Announcements at 7:20 AM\nRunners wave* start at 7:30 AM\nMarathoners (8 miles) and Half Marathoners (4 Miles) \nSTART LOCATION & PARKING \nBar K at 901 SE 5th St. \nDoors will be open by 7:10 to use the restrooms and hang out inside before the start. The bar/restaurant will be open after the run for coffee\, drinks and food orders beginning around 9 AM. \nWave Start* – We anticipate utilizing a wave start to spread out the group so please line up according to your expected pace and wait until your pace is called to begin running. \nCOURSE MAPS \nRemember – it is your responsibility to know the course. \nWe will head west on the River Trails towards Scissortail Park. Those running 4 miles will turn around at the water stop. Those running 8 miles will run around Scissortail Park and the Myriad Gardens. Note that due to cold weather\, sadly the bathrooms at the soccer field and pavilion north of the Skydance Bridge will be CLOSED. \nRoute:\nMarathoners (8 miles) and Half Marathoners (4 Miles)\nhttps://www.plotaroute.com/route/2480238 \nDirections:\nMarathoners (8 miles) and Half Marathoners (4 Miles)\nhttps://routes.rungoapp.com/route/36yMItdsrz \nWATER STOPS: BRING-YOUR-OWN-CUP \nWe will have water and PowerAde available on the course at/near: \nStart / finish area\nOne stop at 2.2 M / 5.7 M. \nFor the health and safety of everyone\, DO NOT DRINK DIRECTLY FROM THE SPIGOT WITH YOUR MOUTH. Instead\, use your own cup (hydrapouch\, water bottle\, etc.) to drink at the water stops. You can purchase a hydrapouch for $5 before the run. There will be NO CUPS AVAILABLE at the water stops! \nReminder – Water stops do not stay open indefinitely. We will be closing water stops based on a 15 minute mile pace. If you run or walk slower than a 15 minute pace or if you are running longer than the group’s planned mileage\, then you should start earlier or carry water as your needs dictate. \nSAFETY AND RUNNING \nThis is NOT A CLOSED COURSE – this means you will likely be sharing the streets with normal traffic and sharing the trails with other pedestrians including cyclists. \nOn the streets\, run on the LEFT SIDE of the street\, facing traffic\, and not in the middle of the road. When approaching traffic get in a SINGLE FILE LINE with other runners and move to the far left\, leaving as much space as possible for traffic. LOOK both ways before running through intersections – don’t simply “follow the group.” \nOn the trails\, run on the RIGHT SIDE of the trail while leaving space for oncoming pedestrians and cyclists. Do not make abrupt stops and turns – you do not want a cyclist crashing into you from behind. \nLet’s be courteous with others in our community and respectfully share the roads and trails. The safety of our participants is always our primary concern. \nWHO CAN RUN WITH US? \nAnyone! As always training is FREE and open to all walkers and runners\, regardless of your training goals. You do not need to be a member to attend.
